Creating Awesome Food Photography at Home

You’ve probably done it a few times. Taking a picture of the lovely meal you just aced from Pinterest and posting it on Instagram. While food photography at home

Food: it’s essential to survival. Most people may think that food photography is complicated or requires a steady hand and a creative mind. What most people don’t know is that it’s something that you can do at home and it’s quite simple.

With food photography, it all comes down to controlling your depth, lighting and setting a scene. If you don’t have studio lights at home (or at all) don’t worry. Look for natural light in your home. Try different angles to highlight different features of the food. Use depth to focus on and draw attention to different items of the meal.

The other most important thing when it comes to food photography is setting the scene. We often see in food photography, food staged on beautiful plates laying down on the table and shot from above. No matter what you have at home, it’s simple to achieve this look. Find items around your house that have complementary colors to the food itself or to the plates it’s being served on. These pictures were taken close to the Tetons in Jackson Wyoming.
