Today Thursday, we had a shoot for the “logo gear”. The shoot lasted all day. In the morning I was in charge of setting up the lights for the first shots and I also had the opportunity of taking them. The logo gear are products that have the Melaleuca’s logo that clients can buy such as t-shirts, water bottles, bags, suitcases, etc. In the morning I shot the t-shirts, shirts and pants using some models that the person in charge of that department brought. The background had to be completely white so I used a setup of 4 lights. I had two lights in each side aiming to the background and then I had a main light lighting the model and a fill light to fill in the shadows. I used 7ft parabolic umbrellas for the main light and the fill light and to give a little more pop to the face I decided to include a 5th light. I used a beauty dish with a boom arm which allowed me to het really close to the model’s face without showing the light on the shot.

After taking the clothing shots I cleaned up and started taking the picture of the products. There were around 30 products total. The hardest challenge was that all the products were different and very different materials but the lighting had to look very similar in all of them with a perfect white background. I started by shooting the hardest products: metallic and transparent water bottles. It was a challenge to get the lighting right at first but once I got it right the rest of the process went pretty fast. I just had to change the setup a little bit for other kind of products such as bags and makeup containers.

The last part was taking pictures of the t-shirts flat lay on a white background. It was a fun and challenging day and it was really cool to be in charge of this whole photo shoot.
